VOYA Contests: Photography & Poetry

One of my absolute favorite things about being a Beaverton librarian is that I meet so many talented, artistic students. What an incredible gift -- teens who are encouraged to stretch and grow their artistic proclivities! :) With that in mind, I know that these contests will hit the spot for some of your students.

VOYA (Voice of Youth Advocates) is still accepting entries for the VOYA 2009 Teen Poetry Contest and the VOYA's Cover Photo Contest for Teens. Students have the chance to see their poetry grace the nationally-recognized pages of VOYA during National Poetry Month in April... or if photography is more their style, they have the opportunity to provide the cover photo for a spring VOYA issue!

The only catch? Submissions need to be submitted through a teacher or a librarian. Check out the VOYA contest website for all the details (or send the student to us for help submitting). Let's see Beaverton's talented artists shine nationally!
