Human Rights Creative Expression Contest

Beaverton elementary, middle school and high school students are invited to enter the City of Beaverton's 2009 Human Rights Creative Expression Contest (formerly the Human Rights Essay Contest)! The contest encourages students to express their feelings about human and civil rights through the medium of their choice, whether it be essay, performance piece, dance or song. As the name change implies, the contest is much more than essays! Entries can be submitted by entire classes or small groups, as well as individually. One winner and two runners-up from each age bracket will be honored in a May ceremony at City Hall; all entries will be on display for one year at the BCL, and they may also be printed in the newspaper! Top winners will receive $50 Powell's gift cards, and runners-up will be awarded $25. For full information and PDF entry forms for your class, visit the official site at http://www.beavertonoregon.gov/departments/HR/HumanRights/CreativeExpressionContest.aspx.
