New Book Review: Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin

This is a great, slow-paced, and deeply thoughtful book.  The main character Rendi is on the run from home and his maltempered father.  He finds himself in a curious village in the Chinese countryside where there is no moon and the sky seems to cry nightly.  While he quickly becomes an integral part of life at Inn of the Clear Sky, Rendi learns, through hearing and telling stories, that he can't run away from his life and problems.  The illustrations and stories within the story are beautiful additions.  I would recommend this to middle grade readers who enjoyed Where the Mountain Meets the Moon (duh!), but also to readers who like fairy tales, parables and traditional storytelling.
