Oregon Battle of the Books

We have good news. Really good news.

First of all, the Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) now encompasses 3 age cohorts: 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade. High schoolers can compete! Hooray!

Second of all, we paid attention to that dearth of OBOB titles last year. (It was awfully hard to find a copy checked in, wasn't it?) The Young Adult Division at the Beaverton City Library ordered 8 copies of every title on the middle school and high school lists. And that doesn't even count the titles that other Washington County libraries own! Better yet, there are some non-holdable copies of every title.

Third of all, we know that you and your students are in a hurry. This year we've gathered all of the OBOB titles onto a special shelf next the New Books Display in the Young Adult Room. Now you can walk in, see at a glance what OBOB stuff is checked in, and be on your way! (This is also true for the 3rd-5th grade titles in the Children's area.)

Finally, we know that you don't always have that list of titles on hand when you visit. Rather than wait for a librarian to print you a new copy, there will always be bookmarks on the OBOB shelf that list the middle school and high school titles. Grab as many as you need throughout the year to keep reading!
