Beaverton City Library's 2011 National Poetry Month Writing Contest

On the way to your mailboxes this week are entry forms for our 2011 National Poetry Month Contest, taking place from Friday, April 1st until Saturday, April 30th! This year, we’re challenging students to write a Clerihew, which is a whimsical 4-line biographical poem with an AABB rhyme scheme! As in previous years, the Library Foundation is generously sponsoring the contest. The prizes are:

First Place - $100
Second Place - $50
Third Place - $25

There will be three prizes each for grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Entries are due at the library by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th. For full guidelines and entry forms, please see the PDF file below! As always, please let us know if you have any questions about the contest, or need further copies. Thank you for helping us to inspire creativity and literacy!
