Teen Read Week: October 16-22, 2011!

Teen Read Week 2011 begins this Sunday, October 16!

The Beaverton City Library has some exciting events planned for the week:

  • Zombies Say It In 6 Creative Writing Contest - During the month of October, the challenge is to write a zombie story using only 6 lines of dialog! Submission forms are available in the Teen Room, or online!

  • Jay Asher @ Powell's Cedar Hills - Sunday, October 16, 2:00 p.m. - Meet the author of Thirteen Reasons Why and hear him read from his new book The Future of Us, which arrives this November. All ages are welcome! This is a particularly big deal because Jay is the American Library Association's 2011 Teen Read Week spokesperson!

  • Audience Participation Book -> Movie Night with The Princess Bride - Tuesday, October 18, 6:00-8:30 p.m. - Teens are encouraged to read the book and then join us in the library auditorium for an interactive showing of the cult classic film The Princess Bride! There will also be door prizes and pizza! Learn more.

  • Local Teen Author Chat - Thursday, October 20, 4:00-5:30 p.m. - We will be hosting a booktalk with local teen authors Stacey Wallace Benefiel, Angela Carlie, Lisa Nowak, and Rebecca Knight! Ask them about writing teen lit, getting published, and their new books! The event will be held in our meeting rooms. Learn more.
