I cannot recommend this audiobook enough! Patrick Ness' The Knife of Never Letting Go tells the story of young Todd who struggles with having to leave his family and town just before the birthday on which he will become a man. And, he lives on a planet called 'new world' where there are two moons, no women, and the men and animals can all hear each others' thoughts. And, he has a sidekick dog named Manchee whose voice and thoughts are spot-on in the audiobook. I left this audiobook in my car and my husband got hooked too, now we're both listening to the sequel, The Ask and the Answer (it is a trilogy).It's a great pick for readers seeking a quality dystopian story - it has suspense, violence, struggle for survival, fully developed characters, and an engaging world. It's also an exceptional pick for boys. Todd's realistic reactions to life get him in more trouble as often as they get him out of trouble. Seriously, I could keep gushing, but just keep it in mind as a great recommendation for your students (or yourselves)!
