Spanish Fiction for Teens at the BCL

For the past couple of years, the Beaverton City Library has maintained a small but growing collection of Spanish-language fiction for teens. It is shelved in the teen room with the other materials, rather than in the foreign language room, where our materials in Spanish for adults are housed. The teen collection includes difficult-to-find translations of popular teen fiction, including:
  • The Hunger Games Trilogy (Los Juegos del Hambre, En Llamas, Sinsajo)
  • Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series (El Ladron del Rayo)
  • Twilight (Crepusculo: Un Amor Peligroso)
  • The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (Diario de Greg)
Plus many more. This year, we are making an extra push to promote the collection ESL teachers as well as Spanish teachers. Reading familiar stories was a huge aid for me in my language classes. Please pass the word on to students and teachers at your schools!
