Teen Poetry Coffeehouse

Celebrate National Poetry Month! Our annual Teen Poetry Coffeehouse will be held Tuesday, April 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. This open mic event provides an opportunity for students in grades 6-12 to read a poem in a comfortable, non-judgmental environment. The works can be something they've written, or favorites by another author. Free coffee, tea and pastries courtesy of Ava Roasteria and Coffee Rush will be provided! No reading is required; simply showing up and enjoying live poetry is also fine! It's also a benefit for the Oregon Food Bank, so attendees are strongly encouraged to bring one can of food.

Our Acrostic poetry contest is also still in full swing! Entries are due at the teen desk by 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30th. Winners will receive $100, $50, or $25, courtesy of the Beaverton Library foundation. There are separate prizes for the grades 6-8 and 9-12 categories! Rules and an entry form can be downloaded here.
