I was clued into this by a student on my Teen Library Council! November is National Novel Writing Month, where budding writers are encouraged to construct a 50,000-word story by midnight on November 30th! The Web site also has a lot of great networking opportunities, tips, programs, and pep talks for young writers. If you have any particularly precocious writers, point them here for a special challenge!In other writing news, we're sponsoring a 55 Fiction contest from November 1st - 30th! This one only requires 55 little words, and the prizes are great! Watch for the entry forms in the mail!
